Miriam's Wednesday Breakfast Blog with Louise Edington
My meeting with Louise is one of those strange synchronistic stories; Louise and I lived streets away from each other when our children were very young, yet (probably) never met. Years later we were introduced through my friend Imogen, when Louise was living in Utah! At this point Louise was helping the shy entrepreneur and during the time we established our friendship Louise finally decided to turn her long time hobby into a new style of coaching, incorporating her passion for astrology with her experience as a coach.
This morning I am interviewing Louise over breakfast and looking forward to introducing her to you. Whether our meeting was written in the stars, I suppose Louise is the one who can answer that!
Good Morning Louise in Utah! How are you and what are you having for breakfast today?
Good morning Miriam in my old hometown, Derby! I am fabulous thank you. Never been better. I am having a green smoothie which I have every day as I move to eating raw more and more. Green smoothies give me a massive boost of energy to start the day and also help to give me clarity when doing readings.I find the further I move into my passion the cleaner I want to eat, All so very interesting. The connection between mind/body/spirit gets more clear day by day.
I first knew you as a supporter of the shy entrepreneur and now I know you as a gifted astrologer and coach.
I’d love to know a bit more about your personality and how your discovery of yourself led you into your current work.
Whilst finding my path I tried out a few things. I loved coaching and started off coaching social media marketing but found that I was very shy in group situations where I had to talk about myself or my business. I’m not so shy one on one, more reserved, but this was a hindrance to my business growth. I realize that I had basically avoided these situations most of my life, hiding in roles that did not require me to do anything that challenged my comfort zone. This time, however, I decided to face my fears. I took Alexander Technique lessons to help me overcome my fears and reached the point where I ran my own two day event alone. For a while it felt right to support other ‘shypreneurs’ as a friend had coined it but my long time love of astrology was winking at me constantly so I decided to completely shift away from any ‘business’ coaching and into astro life coaching. I made this shift last year and finally know that I am on purpose. I am using a clients unique Cosmic Blueprint alongside my well honed coaching/counselling skills to help guide clients through major transitions.
Of course this is really all over my chart – I had just found it hard to be objective with my own gifts. I am a natural listener and am prepared to go deep – to where some are unable to tread. Very little surprises or shocks me so clients find it very easy to open up to me. I love to use both what the client is asking or telling me and show them how it’s in their chart and guide them to use the positive aspects in their chart to get through periods of transition without making their life a mess.
I am also a teacher and communicator and I have a deep need for variety in my work so I shall also be running workshops teaching people how to understand their own charts. I also love to write and I have a second business offering Career Astrology For Teens that I am just getting up and running.
What do you do and do you have a ‘typical day’?
I think I already covered a lot of this. My main work is the Astro Coaching but I love ALL that I do. They all tie in but give me the variety I need. My typical day changes according to the needs of my family – another reason I love being an entrepreneur. However, when my girls go back to school I really start my day the minute they leave. Most of my marketing is online so I spend the first part of the day doing that and answering emails. I then try to do most of my reading work in the morning. However, as I work internationally, I sometimes do readings later in the day to accommodate different timezones. I also schedule in down time, some time to exercise and to walk the dogs. I do mix it up, however. I have a writers group that I attend and also a Mastermind group.
Do you see a connection between what you do and what I do at blue skies?
Absolutely. We both work as counsellors/mentors/therapists but with very different training and tools. We have had many conversations and I know we both believe in the mind/body/spirit connection and love to see people as whole beings.
What do you see your purpose to be about then?
I am a healer, teacher and communicator. My purpose is to help my clients feel whole, or rather to give them the tools and the knowledge to reach wholeness themselves. I see myself more as a facilitator, a safe harbour and a guide.
Any message for our readers?
My biggest message is that transitions don’t have to be messy. Your life does not have to fall apart no matter how major the transition is. Whether it be an internal shift, a divorce, a death, a move. You can navigate this time and emerge feeling whole.
I think this is true for my clients and myself also. I wasn’t a big astro fan until I began to understand your work as a friend, colleague and also recently as a client (and that WAS an eye opener). One thing I like in particular is that your approach compliments mine in that the acceptance for the individual’s uniqueness is inherent. I often quote the paradoxical theory of change, that we can only change by accepting who we are, not by trying to be who we are not. Your approach explains and accepts difference and doesn’t expect you to be like me or me to be like you.
So what does today hold for you?
Well today my Mother In Law and her husband arrive from Spain for a week so it’s time for a break from my work. But I will be itching to get back to it afterwards!
Have fun doing that. And finally if any readers wish to hear more from you Or to contact you what are you contact details?
